1 Month Before:
Cancel your gym membership since many gyms require a 30-day Notice. Mail-order medications need to be notified about your new address.
2 Weeks Before:
Call your car insurance company. Let them know what is your new address, even if you are staying in the same city, because rates can differ from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Change your address with the U. S. Postal Service. They offer an online form, but don’t wait until the last minute to fill it out.
1 Week Before:
Organize your finances. Make sure you put all your bills in a large envelope or box to take with you, so you don’t lose track when they are due. When you move there are times you incur unexpected costs, be sure you have enough money in the account at time of payment.
1 day Before:
A good idea is to snap pictures of electronics. Make sure the wires do not get tangled in a box. Coil the cords and label them with masking tape for good measure.
Pack your plants – Make a list of which plants you want to take with you. Is there a plant you planted for a special event.
Set aside one box for the first 24 hours in your new home. Pack paper towels, cleaning supplies, towels, paper plates, silverware and toilet paper, so when you arrive you don’t have to worry about which box has supplies.
