Cape Coral has a wide variety of events going on in April, starting with the annual Cape Coral Cardboard Boat Regatta at Four Freedoms Park on April 15.
Music, food, and fun fill the air as thousands come out to the Bimini Basin to cheer on boats built of cardboard as they make their way through the waters.
Other Cape Coral events going on include:
Starting Tuesday: Coral Oaks will start its golf school. The $175 per student enrollment fee includes five sessions of comprehensive golf instruction conducted by a PGA Professional (5:1 ratio), with each session lasting 75 minutes and featuring a different topic.

April 22: The Run4Kayla 5K will start with 6 a.m. registration at Patriot Elementary. Runs will start at 7:25 a.m.
Events include special needs duo team 5K; 5K run/walk; kids 1-mile fun run; and wheelchair dash. More than $25,800 has been raised and split between Patriot Elementary Special Needs Department And Special Equestrians (horse therapy for special needs).
All children receive medals. There will be horses, a Calendar Girls performance, face painting, balloon makers, music, raffles and goody bags.

April 26: A hike is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. at Eco Preserve, the biggest preserve in Cape Coral that people can access. The boardwalk is considered to be the longest in a mangrove forest in Lee County.
People must RSVP or submit an advanced registration to take part. Cost is $5 per person. For more information, call Rotary Park at 549-4606.
April 28: Critical Mass ride. The police-guided ride will gather at 7:30 p.m. at 4706 SE 11th Place the last Friday of every month for an 11-mile, low speed, family-friendly bike ride through the Cape. Lights required, helmets recommended. In March, about 100 riders took part.
April 29: Coral Oaks will have a 1 p.m. shotgun charity golf tournament to help raise for funds for a new Cape Coral animal shelter. Cost is $125 for an individual and $400 for a foursome. Call Don Schnell at 560-1225 for more information.
